  • from whence the seed was sown

The Légumerie celebrates vegetables, grains, pulses and legumes, and champions ethical and sustainable food production. Our passion for plant-based deliciousness is born of a love for people, animals and the planet, and a conviction that by changing our approach to food we not only reduce our destructive impact on the environment, we open ourselves up to a whole new world of culinary possibilities.

  • like peas and carrots

The business is run by brother and sister team, John and Claire Duffy. Claire holds a master’s degree in global food security and has a keen interest in sustainable agriculture, food waste prevention, environmental protection, and trade and climate justice. John has a master’s degree in international business but is yet to be convinced of its usefulness.

John is an artificial intelligence nerd, Tesla enthusiast and self-professed futurist. When not reading, writing or experimenting in the kitchen, Claire enjoys sound design, whiskey and all things triathlon.

I was never a fussy eater as a child, but on the rare occasion I’d hesitate over a Brussels sprout I’d be treated to that set piece of Irish parenting many of you will recognise: “Eat your dinner – children are starving in Africa”. To my six-year-old mind, Africa was a faraway pit of mass...
Some of my earliest childhood memories involve making a mess in the kitchen. As a five-year-old, there were the dogged attempts at replicating the chocolate truffles I’d seen my mum make. Enlisting the help of the kid next door, we’d hoist ourselves onto the kitchen worktop, raid the larder...
